Overview
Brownhill Learning Community believe that all students should leave school with a wide and varied experience of the Sciences.
An understanding of it is crucial in an ever evolving world.
Science helps to develop transferable analytical, investigative, and evaluative skills whilst supporting the development of their literacy and numeracy skills.
The overall aim is to develop students into independent learners who strive for success in all aspects of their life and studies.
Through a study of Science, students learn to question the world around them and search for the meaning of phenomena; to gain an understanding of the infinite universe, from the microscopic to the macroscopic.
Science is at the forefront of technological advancement and as such is a very dynamic and diverse subject.
Science will be integral to the new world economy and securing a place within it.
The teaching and assessment of Science should therefore be personalised to enable all pupils, of all backgrounds, and abilities, to achieve the highest understanding that they can in Science and acquire the skills required to be a good Scientist.
Where students have difficulties with their understanding, intervention will be made to support them in making progress towards their goals.
All students should leave school equipped to understand the world around them and Sciences place in the world.
